The recently built inverted pendulum has a reaction wheel attached to a DC motor as the system actuator.
The control technique is divided in two parts. Initially, a swing-up algorithm is used to bring the system to the upright position. Then, a LQR controller is used to stabilize the pendulum.
Some applications of system with reaction wheels are attitude control os satellites and spacial vehicles.
