Sayuri Miyamoto

Graduated in Pharmacy and Biochemistry (1994) from the University of São Paulo, with a Masters in Nutrition (1998-2000) from the University of Tokushima, Doctorate (2005) in Biological Sciences (Biochemistry) and Postdoctoral (2006) by the University of São Paulo. She is an associate professor in the Biochemistry Department of the Institute of Chemistry, as well as a main researcher at CEPID-Redoxoma. She has experience in Biochemistry, with an interest in the study of lipids and their oxidized derivatives.

 

Post-doctoral students

Adriano de Britto Chaves Filho (2020-present)

Graduated in Pharmacy from the Federal University of Sergipe (UFS) and doctorate in Biological Sciences (Biochemistry) from the Institute of Chemistry at the University of São Paulo (IQ-USP). He has a post-doctorate in Physiology from the Institute of Biomedical Sciences at USP (ICB-USP). He is currently a postdoctoral fellow in Biochemistry at IQ-USP. Has experience in Biochemistry, with emphasis on analysis of lipids by mass spectrometry.

Project: Integration of quantitative lipidomic and oxy-lipidomic analysis to track unregulated proinflammatory pathways involved in infectious and neurodegenerative diseases

Lucas Gasparello Viviani (2020-present)

Graduated in Pharmacy-Biochemistry from Pharmaceutical Sciences’ program of the University of São Paulo (2013) and PhD in Sciences (Chemistry) from the Chemistry Institute of University of São Paulo (2020). During his doctorate, he did an internship in research abroad for 4 months at the Heidelberg Institute for Theoretical Studies, in Heidelberg, Germany. He has experience in the areas of Molecular Modeling and Medicinal Chemistry, with emphasis on the following themes: virtual screening of compounds with potential biological activity; redox systems (lipoamide dehydrogenase and thioredoxin reductases) and purinergic signaling systems (ecto-5´-nucleotidase / CD73).

Project: Virtual search for inhibitors of human copper / zinc superoxide dismutase aggregation (Cu, Zn-SOD, SOD1).

Marcos Yukio Yoshinaga

Marcos Yukio Yoshinaga (2017-present)

Graduated in Biological Sciences from the Federal University of São Carlos (2001) and doctorate in Biological Oceanography from the Oceanographic Institute of University of São Paulo (2007). He worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Bremen (MARUM) for 8 years on the following topics: marine organic geochemistry, oceanographic microbiology, with an emphasis on analysis of intact lipids of the cell membrane. Currently works as a postdoctoral fellow at the Chemistry Institute of University of São Paulo.

Project: Development of a lipidomic analysis platform.

Ph.D. students

Alex Inague (2017-present)

Graduated in Bachelor of Chemistry at the Institute of Chemistry, University of São Paulo (IQ-USP). He also studied the subjects of Emphasis in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the same institute. He was a CNPq fellow, through the Science without Borders program, at the School of Biochemistry at the University of Bristol. He is currently a PhD student at the Modified Lipids Laboratory at IQ-USP, under the guidance of the Professor. Dr. Sayuri Miyamoto.

Project: Mechanisms of detoxification and repair of oxidized biological membranes involving the action of the enzyme peroxiredoxin 6.

Larissa Regina Diniz (2019-present)

Graduated in Fundamental Option Chemistry at the University of São Paulo, São Carlos campus (2017). He has experience in Organic Synthesis, having done Scientific Initiation for two years in a research laboratory. She is currently doing a PhD in biochemistry at the Modified Lipids laboratory at IQ-USP, under the guidance of Profa. Sayuri Miyamoto, focusing on oxidized polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) and oxylipidomics.

Project: Integrated Lipidomic and Oxylipidomic Analysis of Polarized Macrophages M1/ M2.

Rodrigo Lucas de Faria (2017-present)

Graduated in Chemistry with emphasis in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of São Paulo (2016). He is currently a direct doctoral student in the Graduate Program in Biological Sciences with an emphasis on Biochemistry from the University of São Paulo (USP) under the guidance of Professor Dr. Sayuri Miyamoto.

Project: Oxy-lipidomic studies of the effects of the oxidation of plasmalogens on the lipid remodeling of cells under oxidative stress.

Rosangela Silva Santos

Rosangela Silva Santos (2021-present)

Undergraduate in Pharmacy from the Federal University of Sergipe. Intern at the Laboratory of Oxidative Stress and Related Pathologies. Has experience in High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) coupled with mass spectrometry and diode-array detector (since 2017); In vivo testing (since 2017); Analysis of oxidative stress markers in chronic diseases (2017); Science and Technology of the Food, focusing on physicochemical analysis by the Federal Institute of Sergipe (2015).

Project: Aging-mediated lipid changes in Sars-Cov-2 infection.

Hector Oreliana Fernandes Faria

Hector Oreliana Fernandes Faria (2022-present)

Graduated in Chemistry Bachelor (2018) and Licentiate (2020), Master in Health Sciences (2021) from Universidade Cruzeiro do Sul, São Paulo Capital, Awarded Student Lavoisier 2018. Sao Paulo. He is currently a Doctoral Student at the Biological Sciences Program (Biochemistry) at the University of São Paulo. He has a background in Molecular Biology with an emphasis on the investigation of metabolic pathways, specifically in the studies of obesity and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis; and experience with interventions in Animal Models, Rats and Mice..

Project: Evaluation of the lipid profile and its implication in hypermetabolism in muscle tissue of SOD1G93A mice treated with Akkermansia muciniphila.

Master's students

Karen Campos Fabiano (2017-present)

She was an intern at the National Nuclear Energy Commission, working mainly on the following topics: fish, micropogonias furnieri, inaa, pescada and cynoscion sp.. She was an intern at the Biochemistry Department of the Institute of Chemistry at the University of São Paulo between 2014 and 2016. She is currently a master's student with research at the IQ-USP in the modified lipids research laboratory.
