Join us!

The laboratory offers opprtunities for undergraduate, master’s, doctoral and postdoctoral students.

Our group has a multidisciplinary team of graduate and post-doctoral students. We look for students who know how to work coorperatively, respect diversity, be proactive, and above all who like science very much! We work in collaboration with several national and international groups. The laboratory offers an opportunity to learn analytical techniques based on liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry, lipidomeric analysis, proteomic analysis, post-translational modification analysis, synthesis and purification of oxidized lipids, techniques for analyzing protein aggregates using fluorescent probes, chromatography of exclusion, SDS-PAGE, western-blotting, PCR, among others.

Postdoctoral Fellowship available:

We are hiring one postdoc interested to understand the multifaceted roles of lipids in neurodegenerative diseases.

The successful applicant will work on our exciting research project focused on investigating oxidized lipids and lipid metabolism in ALS. The overall goals are: (i) establish a cellular model for ALS studies; (ii) investigate altered/dysregulated lipid pathways in the context of hypermetabolism and neuroinflammation in cellular and animal models.

Our lab uses a combination of animal, cellular and high-throughput mass spectrometry-based analytical approaches with particular emphasis on lipidomics and proteomic tools. The postdoctoral fellow will have the opportunity to work in the highly collaborative network of CEPID-Redoxome.

The Postdoctoral fellowship includes a monthly stipend of R$ 4,100.00 that will be paid through grants received from NDR Inc. The position is available to start ASAP (February 1st 2022).

The candidate must have a PhD degree (less than 7 years) in Biological Sciences, Biology, Chemistry, Pharmacy and related fields with experience with cell culture, molecular biology and in vitro biochemical assays, such as, RT-PCR, immuno-histochemistry, western blotting, cytokine and cell biology analysis. Additional experience in animal experiments is desirable.

Please submit: (1) a cover letter describing the reason for your interest and previous experience; (2) a complete curriculum vitae, and (3) recommendation letter of two references to miyamoto@iq.usp.br. Please also upload the document in the google forms link: https://forms.gle/3C46TQBUsw8vf1gk9
