Talca (Chile), 1940

By Team Latinoamericana

The Chilean-born television host, Mario Kreutzberger Blumenfeld, known as Don Francisco, traveled to the United States in his youth. Upon returning to his country, he started the program Sábados Gigantes, adapting formulas from American TV, and became an audience champion in the 1960s. In 1985, his show began to be produced in Miami, under the same name and with the same format. Initially aimed at the Latino community in the United States, it was later broadcast to various countries across the continent and Spain, reaching practically the entire Spanish-speaking audience. It is a variety show, in the American style, featuring contests, interviews, documentaries about places around the world, comedy sketches, etc. It also includes what they call Teletón, a special program to raise funds for projects that support physically disabled children.
