Research areas:
Molecular and epigenetic mechanisms of renal pathophysiology
Summary: Investigation of the profile of epigenetic modifications has contributed to the understanding of gene expression regulation in both physiological contexts and kidney diseases. The studies conducted by our group aim to investigate molecular and epigenetic mechanisms involved in the development and progression of renal dysfunction in different experimental models. In vivo approaches (animal models with focal segmental glomerulosclerosis and type 2 diabetes), in vitro approaches (renal cell cultures), and translational approaches (renal biopsies) are used to identify innovative and effective therapeutic targets and strategies for the management of chronic kidney disease.
