RCGI launches report on CCS and BECCUS in Brazil during workshop hosted by MME

On July 14, 2025, RCGI took part in the event Fuel of the Future: CCS, CCUS and BECCS Workshop, organized by the Brazilian Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME), where it officially launched the report “The Carbon Capture, Usage and Storage (CCS) and Bioenergy with Carbon Capture, Usage and Storage (BECCUS) in Brazil: A Geographic Analysis of Carbon Emission Sources.”

Developed under Project 70 at RCGI, the study provides a detailed geographic analysis of carbon emission sources in Brazil, focusing on their correlation with the country’s logistics infrastructure and geological storage potential. The publication offers valuable insights for identifying strategic regions for the deployment of CCS and BECCUS technologies, which are key to advancing energy transition and achieving decarbonization goals.

The report was presented by Professor Karen Louise Mascarenhas, and researcher Drielli Peyerl, both members of Project 70 and experts in energy planning and climate policy.

The event took place at the Ministry of Mines and Energy in Brasília and was broadcast live on YouTube. It brought together specialists, government authorities, academics, and representatives from the energy industry.
