RCGI congratulates RCGI USP professor Colombo Celso Gaeta Tassinari for the 2023 ANP Technological Innovation Award “Personality of the Academy”.
Having graduated in geology from the University of São Paulo (USP) in 1975, Professor Colombo has a master’s degree in geosciences (mineralogy and petrology) and a doctorate in geochemistry and geotectonics, both from USP. At the same university, he was director of the geosciences institute and the energy and environment institute, where he is currently a full professor. He has experience in the area of geosciences, with an emphasis on isotopic geology applied to metallogenesis, tectonics, and regional geology. He belongs to the Brazilian Academy of Sciences, the São Paulo Academy of Sciences as a full member, and the Lisbon Academy of Sciences as a foreign corresponding member. He coordinated the national institute of science and technology for analytical techniques applied to oil and gas exploration. He currently coordinates the high-resolution geochronology laboratory at USP – geolab-shrimp – and the “geological CO2 storage” research group, developing several projects to characterize geological reservoirs for CO2 storage and being a vital part of the RCGI.
The ANP Technological Innovation Award aims to recognize and reward results associated with research, development and innovation (RD&I) projects, which represent technological innovation of interest to the sector, developed in Brazil by research institutions accredited by the ANP and/or companies Brazilian companies, in collaboration with oil companies, with total or partial use of resources from the RD&I Clause, present in Exploration and Production (E&P) contracts; recognize and reward master’s thesis developed within the scope of the ANP Human Resources Training Program (PRH/ANP); as well as recognizing and rewarding personalities who have generated relevant RD&I contributions to the sector.
