Main Venue

The majority of lectures, roundtables and the situation rooms will take place at the Faculty of Public Health of the University of São Paulo in São Paulo, Brazil. Please consult this map of locations relevant to the SPSAS Epidemic Preparedness. The closest Metro (subway) stop is Hospital das Clínicas. We will distribute a map with the exact location and room numbers for all classes and labs.

The School of Public Health of the University of São Paulo

USP’s School of Public Health was founded in 1922 (as Hygiene Institute) and has, since then, developed a multidisciplinary vision of public health. Its excellence is widely recognized. Its large and beautiful campus is also located on Avenida Doutor Arnaldo.

The School of Medicine of the University of São Paulo

USP’s School of Medicine is an institution founded in 1912 where cutting-edge research in various medical specialties is carried out. Its campus, located on Av. Doutor Arnaldo, is large and offers all the facilities for holding events.

Butantan Institute

With 121 years of history, Butantan works to prevent deseases through basic reserach and production of  vaccines, sera and antivenoms. The Institute is the main producer of immunobiologicals in Brazil.

Emílio Ribas Institute

Emílio Ribas Institute is a tertiary specialized hospital where suspected cases of infectious diseases are sent to be diagnosed and investigated. It is a centenary institution that comprises care, teaching, and research, holding an epidemiological surveillance unit.

Adolfo Lutz Institute

Adolfo Lutz Institute is the State of São Paulo’s public health laboratory, that acts on research, teaching and lab surveillance, in 13 units over the São Paulo State. The Institute is also part of Brazilian Network of Public Health Laboratories.

Epidemiological Surveillance Center

The Epidemiological Surveillance Center of the State of São Paulo, coordinates monitoring and rapid response to epidemiological emergencies.

Travel

São Paulo can be reached by car, intercity and interstate buses and by plane.

The international airport of São Paulo is the “Aeroporto Internacional São Paulo-Guarulhos” (GRU) from where flights to many cities in the world depart. There is also a metropolitan airport, the “Aeroporto de São Paulo-Congonhas” which serves national destinations.
