The Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung (BAM) is a senior scientific and technical Federal institute with responsibility to the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) with a consolidated reputation and knowledge in material research. BAM has internationally recognized expertise with in situ monitoring techniques in the division “Structure analysis”.  This includes material formation in diverse sample environments, and in operando investigations. Synchrotron expertise includes X-ray scattering and spectroscopy, including tandem combinations of these techniques and in-house spectroscopies. Besides the long-term experience at BESSY-II, experiments have been also conducted at other synchrotrons worldwide.

The Brazilian partners are based at the Institute of Chemistry (IQ), University of Sao Paulo (USP). USP, the hosting institution of the InSynX, is the largest institution of higher education in Brazil with an internationally renowned reputation. USP has developed world-leading research across fundamental physical sciences and engineering. The university hosts research groups in catalysis, material science and energy storage devices for sustainable development. InSynX will benefit from this multidisciplinary and vibrant environment to attract specialists in material chemistry and in synchrotron techniques. Moreover, USP reputation will attract public and industrial audiences. This can also be a manner to consolidate other collaborations and expand networks.
