TARGET AUDIENCE

The primary aim of InSynX is to introduce the next generation of synchrotronists to the state-of-the-art in synchrotron X-ray science, providing an unparalleled opportunity to network with world-leading experts. A secondary aim is to provide experts with an opportunity to strengthen existing collaborations and expand networks into tangential areas of synchrotron-based science.

Are you interested in the use of advanced synchrotron facilities to study materials in situ and in operando? Will you be using synchrotron radiation in your research, but have not had much experience yet?

We invite early career participants to attend the 1st German-Brazilian workshop on Breaking Boundaries of In Situ Synchrotron X-ray Methods – InSynX. To be held in Sao Paulo, Brazil, from 6-10 March 2023. InSynX, sponsored by the BMBF via the DLR, will bring together synchrotron experts from BESSY-II (Germany), PETRA-III (Germany), the European XFEL (Germany), Sirius (Brazil) and Brazilian Universities to introduce participants to the state-of-the-art and future of synchrotron radiation for materials characterization. Topics of the workshop will include current research on in situ methods, new frontiers and challenges and workshops on beamline design, proposal writing and cell design. Moreover, participants will have the chance to visit the new Sirius synchrotron facility with a guided tour and discussions with beamline scientists.

We invite applications from early careers researchers until 15th Dec 2022 through our website form. Notification of acceptance expected by beginning of Jan 2023.

Applicants are asked to supply:

  • Short CV;
  • A letter outlining (1) their area of research, (2) how synchrotron facilities will aid their research, and (3) how participation in the workshop will benefit their research and career.
  • For MSc, PhD and PosDoc, an additional letter from the supervisor is required.

We note that space is extremely limited. Priority will be given to ECRs based in Germany and Brazil, although candidates from other countries will be considered. Note, for successful applications, there is no fee for participation.
