Lines of Research
Considering the broad range of medical specialties in the Program, the scientific and technological lines were defined to improve knowledge and promote partnerships among physicians of different areas to assure the multidisciplinary features.
- This line aims to propose and assess the applicability, legitimacy, and effectiveness of the clinical, surgical, laboratory, or imaging methods to improve diagnosis and establish diseases’ prognosis. Development and improvement of laboratory techniques and diagnostic kits, proposals of assessment tools and diagnosis tests, application of procedures and invasive techniques, development of software and algorithms, and evaluation of technologies in health are the issues addressed in this line.
- It aims to develop, implement, and evaluate the effectiveness of pharmacological, clinical, surgical, psychosocial, community, and rehabilitation intervention methods aimed at complete disease remission, symptom control, improvement in quality of life, and overall functionality. Examples of studies included in this line of research include the verification of the effectiveness and efficiency of drugs, analysis of surgical techniques, development of clinical protocols to diagnose and treat diseases, development of screening and health promotion protocols, staging, and the establishment of prognosis and therapeutic response.
- It aims to critically analyze care practices and health services management, propose new ways of organizing services, verifying the quality of care provided, and epidemiological investigations.
