Dr. Fabíola Silva Garcia Praça

Equipe NanoGeneSkin

Fabiola is a Ph.D. Researcher at School of Pharmaceutical Sciences of Ribeirao Preto, University of São Paulo USP, Brazil, with master´s degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences (2004) and Doctorate Degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences by the University of São Paulo – FCFRP-USP (2010) and postdoctoral fellow at the Research Institute for Medicines and Pharmaceutical Sciences Nanomedicine and Drug Delivery Systems (IMED) at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Lisbon, Portugal (2010-2011). Dr. Praça has experience with pharmaceutical technology, particularly to development, characterization and efficacy of nanocarriers with different physicochemical properties used to topical or transdermal drug delivery systems. Currently, her research has been conducted using different delivery systems, such as liquid crystalline phases and their dispersed systems, or elastics liposomes, or microemulsions, which can improve the skin penetration of drugs, photosensitizers, vitamins, peptides and small RNA (siRNA) for several skin diseases including cancer, inflammation and psoriasis. For this purpose, Dr. Praça has been using several techniques for physicochemical characterization of nanocarriers, and has experience with cell culture and induced skin cancer or inflammation animal models for preclinical evaluation and photodynamic therapy. Dr. Praça has published 40 papers and 4 book chapters.
