Banhado: plano popular de urbanização e regularização fundiária
Faced with the risk of forced removal of 460 families settled Banhado, PExURB coordinated the elaboration of an urbanization and land regularization plan as a way to study the feasibility of the community’s permanence in the area. In this plan, the central elements were valorisation of water, intensive use of infrastructure and the different scales of work insertion in society, articulating social and environmental interests of the community. The partnership between academy (represented by PExURB) and local community to design the plan resulted in an interdisciplinary articulation between the areas of architecture and urbanism, civil engineering, environmental engineering, urban planning, regional planning and urban legislation. All together with intense popular participation. The solutions, in summary, seek to guarantee a branched infrastructure oriented by environmental zoning and by legal instruments of land regularization that order a network of services and productive activities. The Plan is consolidated as a bridge between the university and society to promote teaching and political action through technical knowledge and participatory planning.
Plano de urbanização e regularização fundiária do banhado: Jardim Nova Esperança – São José dos Campos-SP
Banhado Urbanization and Land Regularization Plan was an urbanistic experience consolidated as a technical-political instrument used to ensure the permanence of 460 families residing in Jardim Nova Esperança, central region of the municipality of São José dos Campos- SP. Based on the Plan, the process of land regularization and the development of basic and executive urbanization projects for the community should begin. The plan objective is to consolidate Jardim Nova Esperança in the central area of São José dos Campos-SP through the appropriation of the existing community as protection strategy for an Environmental Protection Area (APA) localized in Banhado, the permanence of rural productive activities in urban areas and integration with the city center. The Plan was elaborated in a joint partnership between Institute of Architecture and Urbanism (IAU-USP), Faculty of Law of Ribeirão Preto (FDRP-USP), Environmental Engineering and Civil Engineering graduation courses at Engineering School of São Carlos (EESC-USP), Vale do Paraíba University (UNIVAP), Pitá Group, Veracidade, Public Defensory of the State of São Paulo, Banhado Community Association and Jardim Nova Esperança Community.
Projeto de vizinhança hospitalar: hospital de amor, Barretos-SP
The Hospital Neighborhood Project is the result of a research and extension project carried out through an agreement (n. 44735) between IAU-USP and Fundação Pio XII (responsible for the Hospital de Amor), prepared by an interdisciplinary team from the PExURB group. The main objective of the Project is to increase urban quality in the surroundings of the Hospital de Amor, located in the Doutor Paulo Prata district (south zone of the municipality of Barretos-SP). In order to design an inclusive public space for the users of the hospital neighborhood, mainly patients and their companions, hospital staff, local business employees and all visitors, the group used community data and organized meetings to debate the project with its users.

Prática urbanística e o papel da universidade: Experiências integradas de ensino, pesquisa e extensão em tres cidades do Estado de São Paulo
This article presents an experience report regarding the circuit of actions of three urbanization projects for precarious settlements, carried out in the state of São Paulo, articulating research, teaching and extension. The possibility of developing projects in a network made it possible to find the tangent points between each community/city/region and leverage them into solutions that are broader than the geographical cut of the area object of intervention. In addition, the purpose of the various activities carried out was to introduce the student to the environment of professional practice that involves different areas of knowledge and that requires approximation with field work and action with society in a capillarized and organic way. From these aspects, it is possible to point to the structural relevance of the experience for the theoretical, conceptual and methodological deepening of urbanism works through reflection on its results and the recognition of the university’s role with integration in teaching, research and extension in creating innovative, inclusive, environmentally adequate solutions with a critical and constructive.

Perspectivas multiescalares para o desenvolvimento sustentável: experiências urbanísticas e metodologias de planejamento em territórios com conflitos urbanoregionais
This paper aims to contribute to applied research in public policies by presenting an urbanistic experience and a methodology for planning in territories with urban-environmental conflicts. The experience started from the recognition of the intense regionalization of development guidelines that affect Brazilian municipalities and sought to formulate a procedure for mapping and action. The results are based on the case of the municipality of Juquitiba, a member of the São Paulo Metropolitan Region and a place of overlapping plans, actions, laws, restrictions and guidelines of different scales. Through a multilevel analysis at the state, regional, sub-regional, metropolitan and local levels, transversal readings were carried out focusing on environmental, urban, economic, hydric and sanitation issues. As main outcomes, the existing conflicts between the various planning scales were identified, opportunities for action were pointed out, and territorial clippings for sustainable development to be applied in the local planning sphere were established. Thus, this study contributes to the advancement of the incorporation of the multiscale perspective in urban planning, through a methodological experiment that considers the comprehensive regional particularities and the conflicts incident on the territory. And seeks to contribute to a scientific discussion about the current process of urbanization that is metropolized.
