Qualification exam

1.The aim of the qualifying examination to assess the knowledge acquired in courses and about the theme of your project.

2. Qualification exam application: It will be up to the student, with the approval of the advisor, the digitized completion of the qualification exam application form available on the CPG website. For composition of the examining board, 3 (three) full professors and 3 (three) substitute professor should be suggested, all must have the title of doctor, and may or may not be accredited in the postgraduate program, internal or external to the unit, excluding the postdoctoral students. CCP-PPGEQ will be responsible for approving and defining full and substitute professors. It is strongly recommended to submit the application within the deadline set by the program secretariat. The deliberation on CCP’s panel of examiners will be sent via e-mail after consideration at this committee’s regular meeting (see calendar of meetings on the CPG page).

3. Instructions for the preparation of the monograph.

The bound monograph (spiral) of the Qualification Exam must be delivered to the PPGEQ Secretariat in 5 (five) copies upon enrollment of the student in the exam, containing at least the following items:

  • Cover with author’s name, title of the work, place and date;
  • Summary, List of Figures, Tables;
  • Abstract in Portuguese; Abstract in English (optional);
  • Introduction;
  • Objectives;
  • Bibliography Review;
  • Materials and methods;
  • Results and discussion;
  • Execution schedule, as proposed in the study plan, containing information on the activities already carried out and those planned for project completion;
  • Partial conclusions;
  • Bibliography.

Distribution of copies

It is the student’s sole responsibility to distribute the monograph to EEL internal members. The sending of the monograph to external members will be under the responsibility of the program secretariat, providing the full address of the recipient.
