This is a phase III, randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind, international, multicenter, parallel-group study to test the hypothesis that ticagrelor and acetylsalicylic acid (ASA) are superior to ASA in the prevention of stroke and death in research participants with acute ischemic stroke (AIS) or transient ischemic attack (AIT).
