Abstract: Considering the need of increasing resilience in urban spaces and developing alternatives for the global food system, urban agriculture and its social, ecological and economic benefits is seen as critical for the sustainable development of a large metropolis. Recognizing the emergence of community-led initiatives, the research seeks to identify aspects of the social structure that characterize the experiences of urban agriculture in the city of São Paulo and the role of social capital immerse in social networks in overcoming difficulties and obtaining necessary resources.
