We are excited to invite you to participate in the upcoming FIV2024: FIS2 & FIV + N symposium.

Current phase: Draft paper submission is extended until 04 FEB 2024

Early bird registration is open until 05 APR 2024.

As a leading event in the field, we are dedicated to fostering meaningful discussions, sharing groundbreaking research, and promoting collaboration among experts and enthusiasts alike. Your engagement with the conference starts with the submission of an abstract.

Submission policy

  • There is only one type of paper contribution to FIV2024, and the submissions will follow the schedule above in three steps: abstract, draft paper, and final paper. All submitted contributions will be subject to a peer-review process.
  • English is the official language of FIV2024 and will be used in all papers and oral presentations. Authors uncomfortable with English writing are advised to have their contributions revised by an English speaker.
  • The submitted research work should not have been published in previous conferences or journals.
  • All submissions must be made through the web-based  ABCM Event Management System (select “FIV 2024” in the drop-down menu), which requires previous registration (“sign-up”) of all the co-authors. All co-authors must declare awareness of the submission and share the responsibility for its contents.
  • One of the authors will have the role of Presenter. The Presenter is supposed to attend the conference and present the paper in the assigned oral session. A Presenter may present a maximum of two papers at the conference. Any paper without a registered Presenter will be removed from the program and not appear in the proceedings.
  • Selected papers from FIV2024 will be invited for a special submission to the Journal of the Brazilian Society of Mechanical Sciences and Engineering.
  • Any questions related to submissions should be directed to fiv2024@usp.br with the subject “FIV2024 Submission”.

Step 1 – Author registration

  • Select “FIV 2024” in the drop-down menu and sign up.
  • Ask all co-authors to register in the ABCM Event Management System before submitting an abstract. Ask them to validate their accounts by responding to the link sent by e-mail. The corresponding author submitting the abstract will need to associate co-authors to the paper later.

Step 2 – Abstract submission

  • The abstract, with a maximum of 400 words, should describe the objectives, context, relevance, methods, results, and conclusions. It should not contain formulas or references to the bibliography. There is no need to use a template for the abstract.
  • Please include keywords and select the conference area that best suits your paper. Select “oral” for the “Choose the type of presentation”.
  • The author who submits the abstract is the Corresponding Author of the article. All co-authors must be listed, including their names, institutions, and e-mail addresses. The Corresponding Author must indicate a Paying Author and a Presenter (they can all be the same person).
  • Please note that you will not be allowed to make any changes to the abstract after submission.
  • After submission, all co-authors will be notified of their inclusion in the submission. The abstract will only be available for review after all co-authors accept the submission.
  • The Organizing Committee will review the abstract for its alignment with the conference’s scope. The decision will be either accepted or rejected.

Step 3 – Draft Paper submission

  • After receiving communication of the acceptance of the abstract, the authors must prepare and submit a draft paper with a maximum of 10 pages, following the FIV2024 template provided in MS Word and LaTeX formats.
  • The draft paper will undergo peer review by reviewers selected within the area of the Symposium. The Organizing Committee and the FIV Standing Scientific Committee will coordinate the peer-review process.
  • The reviewing process will result in one of three possible decisions: accepted, accepted with modifications, or rejected.
  • When the paper is accepted with modifications, the authors must address the requests and recommendations made by the reviewers, either implementing them as requested or contesting them based on justification. In this case, the paper will undergo a second round of review. The decision is final if rejected, and no further revision rounds will occur.
  • In some instances, the Program Committee may suggest that the authors redirect the contribution to a different Symposium more suitable for the submitted work.

Step 4 – Final Paper submission

  • After the acceptance of the draft paper, the corresponding author must submit the final paper, which should be in its final form for the proceedings (following the FIV2024 template provided in MS Word and LaTeX formats).
  • The Final Paper will undergo another review by the referees and the Organizing Committee. The final decision will be either acceptance or rejection.
  • At least one of the co-authors must register as a Presenter to attend and present the paper at the conference. A person may present a maximum of 2 papers.

Copyright Policy

After careful consideration and in line with our commitment to promoting knowledge sharing and open research, the Organizing Committee has decided that the FIV2024 conference will not hold copyright over the submitted papers and presentations. Instead, we aim to encourage the dissemination of valuable research findings and foster academic collaboration.

Selected papers presented at FIV2024 will have the opportunity to be invited for publication in a special issue of the Journal of the Brazilian Society of Mechanical Sciences and Engineering. The publication process will follow the normal peer review process of the journal, ensuring rigorous evaluation and high-quality standards.

This decision aligns with our goal to facilitate the exchange of innovative ideas and research within our community while providing a reputable platform for disseminating your work. We believe that this approach will further enhance the impact and accessibility of the knowledge shared at FIV2024 and will allow your research to reach a wider audience.
