As occurs annually, the undergraduate students of Chemical Engineering course at POLI-USP conducted an educational visit to the Laboratory of Research and Innovation in Catalytic Processes in the month of June. The visit is part of the integration program for the course “Introduction to Chemical Engineering,” offered in the first semester, during which students are introduced to the research laboratories of the graduate program.
The objective of these visits is to provide the new students of the Polytechnic School with a more direct contact with the chemical processes covered in the various research lines of the graduate program in chemical engineering, as well as to familiarize them with the scientific infrastructure available at the university. It is also an opportunity for future chemical engineers to get to know each other better and reflect on which career path they intend to pursue: academic/scientific or industrial.
During the visit, the students were introduced to the concepts of chemical kinetics, catalysis, and chemical reactors, with ample space for questions and discussions. Organized in small groups, the students also took a tour of the facilities of LaPCat, from the preparation laboratory to the rooms for reaction and material characterization.
