Our team

Fernanda Ortis

Has a Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences at University of São (USP) obtained in 1996, and a Ph.D. in Sciences (Biochemistry) at IQ-USP obtained in 2002. Worked at Laboratory of Experimental Medicine at Université Libre de Bruxelles from 2003 to 2010, with a postdoc and research position. Developed a Young Research project from FAPESP at Laboratory of the Endocrine Pancreas and Metabolism at UNICAMP from 2010 to 2012. Currently is an Assistant Professor at Institute of Biomedical Sciences – USP. Has experience in Biochemistry and Biological and Molecular Science, with an emphasis in studies of pancreatic β cells function and viability.

Adriane Pereira Fernandes Araujo

Is a laboratory technician at Institute of Biomedical Sciences, University of Sao Paulo. Has a bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences and experience in histological techniques.

Is a Master’s student at LEMMCβ since 2019. Has a bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Sciences from University of Sao Paulo (ICB-USP). Worked at LEMMCβ as an undergraduate student in 2018. Has experience with molecular biology techniques. Has skills in illustration and animation and interest in scientific communication.

Viviane Rosa de Oliveira

Role of HNF-4α in the NFκB response to proinflammatory cytokines in pancreatic β cells.

Is a Master’s student at LEMMCβ since 2019. Has a bachelor’s degree in Biomedicine from University Anhembi Morumbi (2015-2018). Developed research studies as an undergraduate student at LEMMCβ in 2018. Has experience in the area of clinic analysis, as well as in molecular and cellular biology techniques.

Catharina de Barros Pimentel Villaça

Is a Master’s student at LEMMCβ since 2019. Has a bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Sciences from University of Sao Paulo (ICB-USP). Worked at LEMMCβ as an undergraduate student from 2018 to 2019. Has experience in immunostaining techniques and animal experiments.

Effects of aerobic physical exercise in pancreatic β cell regeneration in streptozotocin-induced Type 1 Diabetes mellitus mice.

Is a Ph.D. student at LEMMCβ, since 2021. Has a bachelor’s degree in Biomedicine from Faculdades Metropolitanas Unidas (FMU) and a master’s degree from PBC&T, developed at LEMMCβ obtained in 2018.
