Selection Process for the Master’s Program

The selection process of candidates for the Master’s Program in Psychology takes place once a year and a specific Notice is published in the Diário Oficial do Estado de São Paulo in a specific period of the year. Applicants with a college degree in Psychology or related fields may apply.

Information regarding application, number of slots available, and the schedule of the selection process is published on the program’s website on a timely date so that candidates can easily monitor the assessment stages.

The selection of those applying for the Master’s Program and whose applications are approved is composed of two stages:

First Stage

Written Test (eliminatory) addressing content from the field of Psychology (Weight 1);

Applicants must score equal to or higher than 6 (six) to be considered approved based on this test;

Bibliography recommended for the Master’s written test (knowledge):

  • Journals in the field of Psychology, levels A1 and A2, ranked according CAPES’ Qualis;

Second Stage

  • 1 – Analysis of “Curriculum Vitae” (Weight 1), considering the applicant’s background and scientific experience;
  • 2 – Analysis of the Research Project (Weight 2), considering its quality and feasibility.

Applicants whose scores’ weighted average (three assessments) are equal to or higher than 7 (seven) will be considered approved.

Documentation Necessary for Applying for the Master’s Program as Regular Student

  • Fill out the application form (available at: www.ffclrp.usp.br – Graduate Program: Forms);
  • Copy of Birth Certificate or Marriage Certificate;
  • Copy of RNE1 (driver’s licenses are not accepted for academic purposes);
  • Copy of CPF2;
  • Copy of passport (international students);
  • Copy of college diploma (front and back), certificate of completion with date of graduation or declaration from the Institution where the student is attending his/her last semester;
  • Copy of college school records;
  • Certificate of proficiency in English, Spanish or French, from no more than three years prior, according to the guidelines established in the Notice;
  • Statement of Purpose form – (mandatory) use the template available at the website (original document);
  • Advisor’s Terms of Agreement – the advisor must fill out the Form available on the website stating s/he agrees to be the applicant’s advisor (bring original form).

 

Documentation Necessary for Applying as a Special Student

Fill out the pre-enrollment form provided by the Graduate Studies Office or available at www.ffclrp.usp.br – Graduate Program: Forms) and attach the following documents:

  • Copy of college diploma (front and back);
  • Copy of Birth Certificate or Marriage Certificate;
  • Copy of RNE (driver’s licenses are not accepted for academic purposes);
  • Copy of CPF;
  • Copy of passport (international students with Student Visa and RNE);
  • A 3x4cm photo;
  • Application fee: R$ 15.00 per credit.

 

Note: Students regularly enrolled in Graduate Programs from Public Universities are exempted from fees.

Selection Process for the Doctoral Program

The selection process of candidates to the Doctoral Program in Psychology takes place all year round and a specific Notice is published once a year in the Diário Oficial do Estado de São Paulo. Applicants with a college degree in Psychology or related fields may apply anytime, except in January, July and December.

The selection exam for those applying for the Doctoral Program, whose applications are approved, is composed of the following assessment activities: Oral presentation and defense (up to 20 minutes) of the research project to an evaluating committee (weight 2); Analysis of the written project (weight 2) and Analysis of Curriculum Vitae (weight 1).

Applicants whose weighted average scores are equal to or higher than 7 (seven) will be considered approved.

Schedule

  • Faculty members accredited in the Graduate Program in Psychology compose the Evaluating Committee for all selection process after applications are processed by the Program’s Coordinating Committee;
  • Students must enroll within 30 days from the date the results are disclosed;
  • This schedule is subject to changes throughout the current year;
  • If only one candidate applies for the program, the selection process will not take place and the candidate’s application will be automatically postponed to the next selection process period. The selection process will then, however, occur normally even if only this application remains, in which case the candidate may choose to withdraw and resubmit at a later date.

Fill out the application form (available at: www.ffclrp.usp.br – Graduate Program: Forms), and deliver it to the Graduate Studies Office with the following:

  • Copy of Birth Certificate or Marriage Certificate;
  • Copy of RNE1 (driver’s licenses are not accepted for academic purposes);
  • Copy of CPF2;
  • Copy of passport (international students);
  • Copy of college diploma (front and back);
  • Copy of college school records;
  • Copy of Master’s diploma or Certificate of completion (back and front) accompanied by Master’s degree validation (if applicable);
  • Copy of the Master’s program records (if applicable);

  • “Curriculum Vitae” supported by documents numbered in the order of presentation, printed back and front (mandatory) according to the program’s guidelines – available at: http://www.ffclrp.usp.br/imagens_formularios/29_08_2016__12_03_26__34.pdf
  • Copy of the “Curriculum Vitae” in PDF format in CD-ROM, no attachments (submit a single file);
  • Copy of Master’s thesis (if applicable);
  • Three (3) copies of the Research Project, according to the following: maximum of 20 pages including bibliographic references; typed in Times New Roman font, size 12, 1.5 line spacing; two-sided print on A4 paper; endorsed by advisor (advisor must sign the project’s cover). Appendices (if any) must be typed in Times New Roman, size 11, and printed or copied back/front.
  • PDF copy of the Research Project in CD-ROM (single file);
  • Candidates with a Master’s degree must present a copy of a proficiency certificate for a second foreign language (in addition to the one presented for admission to the Master’s Program);
  • Candidates who did not pursue a Master’s degree must present copies of two different foreign language proficiency certificates.
