The QSLab team at the Instituto de Física, Universidade de São Paulo.
Principal investigator
PhD students

Lukas Montenegro
Lukas’ work focuses on spontaneous parametric down-conversion (SPDC), the rice & beans of entanglement-based quantum communications. Lukas also investigates the manipulation of quantum correlations using structured light in nonlinear optics.

Higor Arruda
Higor’s work focuses on quantum frequency conversion (QFC), an enabling technology for quantum communications. QFC allows changing the color of a photon, enabling its detection with minimal resource overheads.
Profile →MSc students

Bruno Vermes
Bruno’s work focuses on the generation, distribution and measurement of time-bin entanglement. He currently works on building resource-efficient sources of time-bin entangled photons and Franson interferometers. In summary, he splices fibers.

Caio Ribeiro
Caio is the main person working on free-space quantum communications in the QSLab. He currently works on developing tracking algorithms for aligning quantum-communication telescopes.
Profile →Undergraduate students

Nathalia
Nathalia works with Higor on the quantum frequency conversion branch of our lab. She also works on the manipulation of structured light with spatial light modulators, preparing for applications in high-dimensional quantum communications.
Henrique Guerra
Henrique is currently investigating second-harmonic generation with structured light fields, studying the contribution of the spatial structure to the nonlinear phase-matching problem.
