Diretores do RCGI recebem equipe de tecnologia da Shell

Sete integrantes da Shell estiveram na sede do Centro, em visita que também contou com represententes da FAPESP, FUSP e da Pró-Reitoria de Pesquisa da USP.

Um time de representantes da área de pesquisa e tecnologia da Shell esteve no Fapesp Shell Research Centre for Gas Innovation (RCGI) no último dia 10 para uma visita à sede do Centro, na Escola Politécnica da Universidade de São Paulo (Poli-USP), e a alguns dos laboratórios utilizados por seus pesquisadores. O grupo, composto por Yuri Sebregts, vice-presidente executivo de Tecnologia; Christian George, vice-presidente de Poços, Águas Profundas e Tecnologias de Engenharia de Superfície; Jane Zhang, gerente geral de Tecnologia para o Brasil; Camila Brandão, vice-diretora da Shell Brasil no RCGI; Alexandre Breda e Pauline Boeira, coordenadores técnico-científicos da Shell no RCGI; e Giancarlo Ciola, gerente regional para Pesquisa Externa – passou a manhã toda na USP e despediu-se perto do meio dia.

Os convidados foram recebidos por nove integrantes do RCGI – incluindo o diretor científico, Julio Meneghini; Kazuo Nishimoto, diretor do Programa de Abatimento de Carbono; e Reinaldo Giudici, diretor do programa de Físico-Química e também vice-diretor da Escola Politécnica da USP. Participaram ainda da visita Luiz Nunes Oliveira, representante da Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de São Paulo (Fapesp); Sylvio Roberto Accioly Canuto, pró-reitor de Pesquisa da USP, e Antonio Figueira, CEO da Fundação de Apoio à Universidade de São Paulo (FUSP).

“O objetivo da visita foi apresentar o RCGI, mostrar a infraestrutura que temos, não somente física, mas de gestão também. Eles conheceram nossas instalações e o Tanque de Provas Numérico (TPN), um dos quinze laboratórios em que se desenvolvem os projetos do RCGI”, afirmou Meneghini, lembrando que Yuri Sebregts visitou o local pela primeira vez.

A agenda começou com apresentações de Meneghini, Oliveira, Canuto e Nishimoto. “Demos um panorama geral do andamento das pesquisas e os visitantes gostaram bastante, inclusive da organização em projetos estruturantes, que são aqueles que têm diversos outros ligados e eles, como o projeto das cavernas de sal para separação e armazenamento de CH4 e CO2, por exemplo.” Segundo Meneghini, o grupo conversou muito com coordenadores de projetos e pesquisadores, e ficou impressionado com o nível das pesquisas.

Na ida ao TPN, os convidados foram acompanhados por Nishimoto e Meneghini. A visita terminou com um brunch na sede do RCGI. De acordo com o diretor científico do Centro, há ainda um calendário de visitas periódicas da equipe de Rob Littel, gerente geral de Separação de Gases Shell, que será mantido. Eles vêm ao RCGI duas vezes ao ano. “Virão novamente final de novembro, e depois em maio ou junho de 2019.”

Futuro – Com a inclusão de um novo projeto no portfólio do RCGI, sobre resolução de problemas inversos, coordenado pelo professor Bruno Carmo, o Centro vai passar a ter mais de 360 pesquisadores nos próximos meses. Segundo Meneghini, há muito trabalho pela frente.

Ele lembra que a Fapesp e a USP têm dado um apoio enorme ao RCGI. “Estamos com muito trabalho e todos muito motivados. Para mim, tem sido uma experiência excepcional dirigir esse Centro.”
