Fellowship on Nanomedicine and Ultrasound Theranostics at the University of São Paulo - FAPESP

The Grupo de Inovação em Instrumentação Médica e Ultrassom (GIIMUS) offers a Postdoctoral opportunity to work on the development and validation of an innovative theranostic platform aimed at breast cancer treatment and diagnosis. The project aims to integrate nanotechnology through the production of liposomes functionalized with metallic nanoparticles for application in conjunction with multimodal imaging techniques (Magneto-Motive Ultrasound and Photoacoustic Imaging) and therapeutic techniques via magnetic hyperthermia.

Planned Activities: The selected fellow will work on the synthesis and physicochemical characterization of nanomaterials (liposomes incorporated with metallic nanoparticles), in vitro tests (internalization and cytotoxicity in MCF-7 and MDA-MB-231 cell lines), and preclinical validation in a nude murine model. The research involves the use of advanced technologies already validated by the group, including Magneto-Motive Ultrasound (MMUS), Photoacoustic Imaging, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), and EPR Spectroscopy for real-time biodistribution monitoring, in addition to the application of Magnetic Hyperthermia therapy in animal models.

Candidate Requirements: We are seeking a researcher with proven experience demonstrating their skills and independence to execute the project, including:

  • Physicochemical characterization (DLS, TEM, UV-Vis, EPR).
  • Cytotoxicity assays and animal experimentation.
  • Skills in programming languages (MATLAB and/or Python) and signal processing techniques.
  • Candidates must also comply with FAPESP’s requirements for the Postdoctoral Fellowship (available at www.fapesp.br/en/postdoc).

How to Apply: Candidates should submit their CV (Lattes/ORCID), Cover Letter, and a Recommendation Letter to giimus@usp.br.

Application Period: November 28, 2025 – December 25, 2025.
