Created in 1980, PPGEM has as its basic objectives the training of faculty for higher education, researchers for the technical-scientific area, and specialized professionals for the productive sector. The program involves faculty from the Department of Mechanical Engineering (PME) and the Department of Mechatronics Engineering (PMR) .

Areas of Concentration:

Mechanical Engineering of Energy and Fluids: Thermal sciences, fluid mechanics, and energy efficiency.

Mechanical Engineering of Design and Manufacturing: Machine design, mechanical structures, materials behavior, and manufacturing processes.

Mechanical Control and Automation Engineering: Mechatronics, robotics, systems dynamics, and control.

Faculty and Infrastructure:

The program has 58 doctoral professors (more than 60, according to updated data) and has already graduated hundreds of masters and doctors. Research is developed in 23 laboratories, with strong interaction with the productive sector through partnerships with companies such as PetrobrasEmbraer, and Aços Villares.
