There are 3 ways for foreign applicants to enter the Graduate Program in Industrial Biotechnology.
1st – The interested student must undergo a selection exam composed by written test and analysis of curriculum. All the information necessary to register in the selection process, number of seats, important dates, topics of the written test and the criteria of punctuation of the curriculum can be found in the edicts published for each selection process in the Selection Edicts section.
At the end of the process, if approved, a Letter of Acceptance from the institution will be provided.

2nd – Foreigners living outside Brazil may also join the Graduate Program in Industrial Biotechnology through the CAPES Graduate Program (PEC-PG), whose information may be consulted on the CAPES website (http://www.capes.gov.br/cooperacao-internacional/multinacional/pec-pg).

3rd – For foreign candidates who will compete in their country for PEC-PG scholarships granted by the Brazilian government, or for scholarships granted by other international agencies, the selection process will consist of curriculum vitae analysis conducted by an examining committee defined by the GPIB Coordinating Committee.
At the end of the process, a Letter of Acceptance from the institution will be provided.

Documentation for Foreign Students
Obtaining the document of temporary stay of foreigners, indispensable for the long stay in Brazil, has two stages and begins in the country of origin.
In your country of origin
At the Brazilian Embassy (or Consulate) in your country of origin, you will need:
Apply for the Student Visa;
For this, you should have in hand the Letter of Acceptance sent by the University of São Paulo. You will probably also need to present your passport, photos and other documents.
In Brazil
When arriving in Brazil, the candidate should go immediately to a Delegacia de Polícia Federal to obtain the documents: RNE and the CPF.
– The document of temporary stay of foreigners in Brazil is called: Registro Nacional de Estrangeiros (RNE). Only with this number you can open a bank account, buy a scholar pass, or perform any other activity that requires confirmation of your long stay in Brazil.
