A regular student is a student formally enrolled in an educational institution, fulfilling all academic and administrative requirements.
To become a regular student in PPGET, it is necessary to pass the third stage of the admission process and enroll in the program.
Regular students must enroll every academic term within the deadlines established in the Graduate Academic Calendar of the Polytechnic School.
Enrollment may be of two types:
- Course enrollment
- Monitoring enrollment
Course Enrollment
Courses are offered in three academic periods (quadrimesters).
Regular students must enroll:
- in 1st and 2nd period courses → in January
- in 3rd period courses → in July
Enrollment is carried out through the Janus System.
Students will be notified through their USP institutional email.
Monitoring Enrollment
Regular students who:
- do not intend to take courses, or
- have already completed required credits
must enroll in monitoring status via Janus in January and July.
Rules:
- If not taking courses in the 1st or 2nd periods → monitoring enrollment in January.
- If taking courses only in the 1st or 2nd period → course enrollment must still be done in January.
- If not taking courses in the 3rd period → monitoring enrollment in July.
After the enrollment period, students may add or remove courses within the allowed timeframe.

The qualification exam evaluates the student’s academic maturity.
Required for:
- Master’s
- PhD
- Direct PhD
Consists of:
- written monograph
- oral presentation of research project
Deadlines:
- Master’s: up to 16 months
- PhD: up to 28 months
- Direct PhD: up to 34 months

Must be held within 90 days after registration.
Presentation duration:
- minimum: 20 minutes
- maximum: 30 minutes
Followed by examination by the committee.
At least one PPGET faculty examiner must participate.
Remote exams require formal request (USP Graduate Regulations Art. 72 §3).
If failed:
- student may retake once
- reapply within 60 days
- new exam within 60 days after reapplication
The PAE Program prepares graduate students for undergraduate teaching.
Two stages:
- Pedagogical Preparation
- Supervised Teaching Internship
CAPES doctoral scholarship holders must participate.

Minimum PPGET disciplines credits must equal at least ¼ of required credits.
External disciplines may count up to ⅓ of required credits with CCP approval.

Students may request special credits according to PPGET regulations.
Examples:
- Conference participation with publication
- Book chapter or full paper publication
- PAE completion
- Patent registration
- Academic internships
Documentation required for each case.
Students may request suspension for up to 365 days with justification.
Examples:
- Health reasons (medical certificate with ICD code)
- Professional reasons
- Other justified cases
Request analyzed by CCP and CPG.
Graduate students may request leave with suspension of deadlines.

- birth certificate or adoption document

PPGET maximum extension:

Students may be dismissed if:
- fail same course twice or three different courses;
- fail to enroll for two consecutive terms;
- fail qualification exam within deadlines;
- fail to meet program requirements;
- fail semester report twice consecutively;
- voluntary withdrawal.
Students may request supervisor change with approval from:
- current supervisor
- new supervisor
- CCP-PPGET
