In addition to preparing the Illustrated Historical Repertoire of Kitchen Equipment and Tools (São Paulo, 1860-1960), the research being carried out within the scope of the project “Food processing in the domestic space” also contributes to the curation and production of the exhibition Casas e Coisas (Houses and Things), at the Paulista Museum of the University of São Paulo (Museu do Ipiranga), reopened in September 2022.
Entitled “Trabalho e felicidade” (“Work and happiness”), the room focuses on the relationships between domestic kitchens, their objects, culinary practices and the constitution of women’s identities and subjectivities. Responsible for the nutrition of the family for a long period of time, they also received the duty to nourish and guarantee the happiness of the home, through the administration of the house, the kitchen, and the table.
The seven cores of the room bring together objects from the Paulista Museum’s collections, as well as advertisements, photographs and videos.
