O Projeto “Máscara oronasal pressurizada para apneia do sono” foi aprovado para o segundo estágio de TRL e é agora elegível de patente. O projeto propõe um novo design de máscara facial oronasal, composto por duas câmaras individuais cobrindo a região da boca e das narinas fluidicamente conectadas entre si por um meio de comunicação unidirecional (diodos fluídicos).

DIFERENCIAL
A maioria das máscaras comerciais apresentam duas câmaras individuais conectadas por pelo menos uma válvula integrada com componentes móveis. O correto funcionamento destas máscaras faciais está intimamente relacionado com o correto funcionamento de suas válvulas. Válvulas com partes móveis, em especial aquelas com materiais elastoméricos, estão mais sujeitas a falhas e acúmulo d’água proveniente da respiração. Esta água acumulada pode iniciar a proliferação de microrganismos danosos à saúde do usuário. Para evitar esses problemas, a presente tecnologia usa diodos fluídicos (válvulas sem partes móveis) para conectar as duas câmaras individuais.
APLICAÇÕES E PÚBLICO-ALVO
A tecnologia poderá ser implementada em ambientes médicos, hospitalares, residenciais, ou em qualquer outro contexto de tratamento CPAP da apneia do sono. O suporte se insere no campo de máscaras oronasais pressurizadas de fluxo contínuo, desempenhando um papel essencial no âmbito da Saúde e Cuidados.
