Concebido em 2016 como Grupo de Estudos em Migração e Direito Internacional do Trabalho, o Grupo de Pesquisa em Migração e Direito Internacional do Trabalho (GEMDIT) da Faculdade de Direito da Universidade de São Paulo (FD-USP) está inscrito regularmente na Comissão de Pesquisa da FD-USP (http://www.direito.usp.br/pesquisa/grupos_pesquisa_01.php) e no Diretório dos Grupos de Pesquisa no Brasil (DGP) do Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico (CNPq) (http://dgp.cnpq.br/dgp/espelhogrupo/4213229401105309). O Grupo tem o objetivo geral de promover reflexões e debates interdisciplinares. Por meio de Atividades de Cultura e Extensão, tratamos, por exemplo, de uma região temática bastante heterogênea e sensível: os grupos sociais vulneráveis em um ambiente internacional de trabalho, com especial atenção às condições dos imigrantes – documentados ou não – e aos seus impactos nos países receptores.
Conceived in 2016 as the Study Group on Migration and International Labor Law, the Research Group on Migration and International Labor Law (GEMDIT) of the Faculty of Law of the University of Sao Paulo (FD-USP) is regularly registered in the Research Commission of the FD-USP (http://www.direito.usp.br/pesquisa/grupos_pesquisa_01.php) and in the Directory of Research Groups in Brazil (DGP) of the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq) (http://dgp.cnpq.br/dgp/espelhogrupo/4213229401105309). The Group has the general objective of promoting interdisciplinary reflections and debates. Through Cultural and Outreach Activities, we deal, for example, with a very heterogeneous and sensitive thematic region: vulnerable social groups in an international work environment, with special attention to the conditions of immigrants – documented or not – and their impacts on the recipient countries.

A dinâmica das Atividades de Cultura e Extensão oferecidas pelo GEMDIT se baseia em pesquisas bibliográficas, empíricas e comparadas, bem como em reuniões periódicas, voltadas a trabalhos úteis à sociedade. A produção de materiais informativos e o assessoramento de organizações não governamentais (ONGs) – e outras associações – que se dedicam a grupos vulneráveis de imigrantes são exemplos. As parcerias que constituímos podem se dar isoladamente ou envolvendo outras iniciativas já estabelecidas na USP.
The functioning of the Culture and Outreach Activities offered by GEMDIT is based on bibliographic, empirical, and comparative research, as well as periodic meetings focused on useful works for the society. The elaboration of informative materials and the advice to non-governmental organizations (NGOs) – and other associations – that are dedicated to vulnerable groups of immigrants are examples. The partnerships we form may take place with a specific project or involve other initiatives already established at USP.

Uma das Atividades do GEMDIT resultou na Cartilha de Direitos Trabalhistas e Previdenciários para Imigrantes e Refugiados (disponível neste site). Para elaborar essa Cartilha, tivemos contato com documentos de diversos órgãos, como: (i) em nível internacional, da Organização Internacional do Trabalho (OIT); (ii) em nível regional, das Cortes Interamericana e Europeia de Direitos Humanos; e (iii) em nível nacional, do Comitê Nacional para os Refugiados (CONARE). Além disso, a Coordenação do Grupo convidou especialistas no tema migratório para participar de reuniões e ministrar palestras.
One of the GEMDIT Activities resulted in the Primer on Labor and Social Security Rights for Immigrants and Refugees (available on this website). To prepare this primer, we had contact with documents from several bodies, such as: (i) at the international level, from the International Labor Organization (ILO); (ii) at the regional level, from the Inter-American and European Courts of Human Rights; and (iii) at the national level, from the National Committee for Refugees (CONARE). Besides, the Group Coordination invited specialists on the migration issue to take part in meetings and to give lectures.
