USP Center for Responsible Small Mining

MANAGEMENT AND GOVERNANCE

Strategic planning in traditional large-scale mining includes highly expensive initial preparation work (mineral exploration and exploration, technical data modeling on geological resources, detailed analysis and study of alternative mining scenarios to exploit these resources) in order to demonstrate the mineral reserves.

A major challenge of the governance theme is associated with the need to adjust this traditional approach to the context of small-scale mining based on the concepts of proof of a “minimum reserve” and of “replication” of production.

For this, NAP.Mineração/USP simulates operational and governance conditions in different scenarios, confronting traditional and traditional approaches. The simulation results serve to define a specific scenario for the new approach to small mining with an emphasis on the sustainability of the mining enterprise. The NAP.Mineração/USP team supports the development and implementation of management systems to ensure that small mining companies operate efficiently and responsibly.
