Carlos Henrique Xavier Araujo

PhD in Mineral Engineering from the Department of Mining and Petroleum Engineering at the Polytechnic School of the University of São Paulo, graduated in Mining Engineering from the Lutheran University Center of Palmas (2015). Researcher at the Research Center for Responsible Mining (NAP.Mineração/USP). He has experience and interest in the planning and execution of mining engineering projects, working mainly in the dissemination and application of best practices in mineral extraction and governance for the responsible and sustainable development of mining. He currently coordinates the field activities and logistical planning of the PAN project – National Action Plan for Mercury-free Gold Extraction, financed by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and with support from the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP). ). He also coordinated field work and collaborated in the development of the META MPE project – Socioeconomic and Environmental Diagnosis of Small-Scale Mining in Brazil, financed by the World Bank/IBRD. He was part of the task force in 2019 under the Ministry of Mines and Energy to boost the process of developing a strategy for managing artisanal and small-scale mining in Brazil. He was also part of the research team for the Project – Gold Matters: Sustainability Transformations in Artisanal and Small-scale Gold Mining, which aims to promote transformations towards sustainability in artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM) in South America and Africa, funded by Belmont Forum/FAPESP. He was part of the international Working Group to collect data and assess the impact of COVID-19 on mining communities in 33 countries, organized by Delve ASM with support from Pact World and the World Bank.

Master and doctoral candidate in Mineral Engineering at the University of São Paulo. MBA from Georgetown University with a specialty in finance. Specialist in business administration from Fundação Getúlio Vargas. General Manager in Brazil of Million Link (China) Investment Ltd, a Hong Kong trading company specializing in raw materials for the metal and steel industries. Researcher focusing on risks associated with implementing small-scale mining. Extensive experience in corporate finance, mining and trading of ores and metal alloys.

Erbertt Barros Bezerra

Master’s student in Mineral Engineering at the University of São Paulo. Mining Engineer graduated from the Federal University of Campina Grande (2017). Mining Engineer at SRN Mineração, responsible for the entire mining area. He was linked to the Min_AO² project, by the Research Center for Sustainable Mining of the University of São Paulo – NAP.Mineração in partnership with VALE S.A., developing research aimed at the Systemic Management of Mining. Researcher in the area of Operational Performance Indicators (KPI) and Mining.
