Acupuncture (SAPIC)

The Care Service, through integrative and complementary practices in children and adults at FORP/USP (SAPIC), started in 2005. It is under the coordination of a permanent Professor on the program. Patients who are in need for this type of treatment are seen and come from different places. They are treated by Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Specialisation students and a dental surgeon.

In this service, teaching staff on the program teach the optional Undergraduate course “Acupuncture in Dentistry” (3 credits).

In addition to providing assistance to the community, this service serves as a base for teaching Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Research students. It also generates research in specific and related areas. The activities carried out emphasize that ‘Extension’ is conceived as an educational and scientific process. This integrates teaching and research in such a way that enables a transformative relationship the University and society.
