Vivariums

– Vivariums of the Faculty of Dentistry at Ribeirão Preto/USP:

1. BIOTERY WITH SURGERICAL EXPERIMENTATION CENTRE

FORP/USP has an exclusive vivarium for dogs and mini-pigs (medium sized animals) with 2 modern equipped operating rooms, a preparation room, a storage room and 24 solarium bays and a capacity for 48 animals. In this way, studies on dogs and mini-pigs have been performed, following ISO recommendations. This vivarium has received financial support from the Pro-rectory of research at USP and a part from the institutional technical reserve of FAPESP.

2. BIOTERY FOR SMALL ANIMALS

This is a FORP/USP biotery for small conventional type animals, including wild, isogenic, and transgenic rats and mice intended for rodent research.  This laboratory has 12 rooms, 10 for the housing of animals and 2 for experiments. Recently renovated by management, this vivarium receives financial support from the Pro-Rectory of research at USP and partly from the institutional technical reserve of FAPESP.
