SABDI – Assistance Service for Bruxism and TMD in Childhood-FORP/USP

In view of the growing demand for cases of bruxism and signs of TMD in children and adolescents, referred both from public and private care centers throughout the region of Ribeirão Preto, in addition to the spontaneous search for care, in 2014 it was created , the SABDI – Assistance Service for Bruxism and TMD in Childhood-FORP/USP.

The purpose of this service is to concentrate and direct the care and follow-up of these cases in an exclusive service for this purpose, favoring the determination of an accurate diagnosis, the use of adequate therapeutic strategies and the monitoring of patients within an interdisciplinary perspective, promoting new knowledge. and allowing the development of research, as well as promoting a reference service for the city and region of Ribeirão Preto.

Linked to the service, which has the participation of professors and students of PPG in Pediatric Dentistry, the Dental Surgeon of the Department of Children’s Clinic, Dr. Carolina Paes Torres, and undergraduate interns, the Professional Practice Course open to professionals from different areas of health is taught and the Graduate discipline entitled Temporomandibular Disorders and Bruxism in Childhood (8015727-1), under the coordination of Prof. Kranya Victoria Díaz Serrano, for a total of 6 credits.
