Abstract: The chapter examines the regulatory framework established by Law 13576/2017, which created the Brazilian National Policy on Biofuels (RenovaBio), and by Resolution ANP 758/2018, which provides for a certification and criteria for the emission of tradable notes to producers and importers, which are the basis of the trade mechanism established by RenovaBio. The chapter’s main contribution is to offer a clearer insight about the possibilities, consequences, and influences of a regulatory framework on biofuels in Brazil to Latin America’s energy transition. It also envisages a possibility of increasing the use of technology to manage the certification process and notes trade.
