About NETI-USP

The Centre for the Study of International Courts at University of São Paulo’s Faculty of Law (NETI-USP) is a permanent study and research group formed by academics, professors and researchers who meet periodically to discuss the jurisprudential and normative activity of the courts and tribunals international agreements, as well as the extension of their jurisdiction internationally.
The research group is led by Associate Professor Wagner Menezes (FDUSP), with approved by the Department of International and Comparative Law, and is institutionalized within the scope of the Research Committee of the Largo de São Francisco Law Faculty of the University of São Paulo, as well as registered with the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq).
NETI-USP has the social purpose of promoting studies on International Courts and International Law, monitoring the activity of International Courts and disseminating knowledge related to such topics, through events, publications and other means.

Group's objetives

The study and research group has as its general objective the development of scientific materials about the performance of international courts in contemporary international law, with a view to academic improvement of members, scientific production and the publication of the results of these activities.

The specific objectives of the group are:

  1. Monitor the judicial decisions of international courts and tribunals;
  2. Doctrinally analyse the positions of international courts and tribunals;
  3. Examine the internal procedures developed within the scope of international courts and tribunals;
  4. Discuss procedural and normative procedures in the processing of cases before international courts and tribunals;
  5. Analyse the disputes in which Brazil is involved;
  6. To analyze historically the phenomenon of the jurisdiction of international law;
  7. Classify and typologically analyse international courts and tribunals;
  8. Publish and disseminate in a consolidated manner the jurisprudence of international courts and tribunals; and
  9. Disseminate knowledge on the activities of international courts and tribunals.
