Industrial Partnerships: Turning research ideas into new technology

Kris Anderson, Imperial College London

Commercial development is a difficult and costly process. The prospects of success can be greatly improved by theoretically exploring the ideas behind projects prior to making large financial commitments. Ideas for new technology are often plentiful, but establishing which of those ideas have the greatest commercial potential is critical to success. This lecture will discuss the pathway to commercialisation and how to work successfully with industrial partners. The speaker is Dr Kris Anderson from the Sustainable Gas Institute at Imperial College London. The institute was founded by BG Group who are also major sponsors of research at USP. For the past 16 years he has been working on the commercial development of research for a variety of oil and gas companies including Chevron, UOP, BP, PETRONAS, Cameron, BG Group and Shell. His main area of expertise is in the development and commercialisation of oil and gas separation technology.
