Thematic Tracks

1 - Natural Based Solution (NBS)

This thematic track involves the restoration of native vegetation, the expansion of integrated agricultural systems and the restoration of pasture areas. In addition, the track also considers techniques to restore vegetation and re-establishing native species. In this way, the soil will accumulate a high biodiversity of plant substrates that should stimulate its microbial biomass, resulting in potential carbon fixation in the soil.

2 - Carbon Capture Utilisation and Storage (CCUS)

This thematic track focuses to create value from CO2 emissions through the design of integrated processes for CO2 capture and conversion. In this concept, CO2 is considered a valuable chemical building block for fuels and materials. This track also includes technologies used in CO2 storage in geological structures and other types.

3 - Bioenergy/ Bioenergy with Carbon Capture Use and Storage (BECCUS)

This thematic track involves technologies or a set of technologies that associate biomass energy with carbon capture use and storage, a process always carried out on a large scale. With this it is possible to sequester carbon from the atmosphere. Works that present the technologies and their contribution to building a positive public perception of BECCUS influencing the design of public sustainability policies for the Brazilian energy systems are included.

4 - Greenhouse Gas Reduction Technologies (GHG)

The Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Programme is dedicated to studying technologies related to measuring and quantifying GHG emissions, mitigation of GHG emissions, such as pneumatic machines and devices in general, Chemical looping combustion and Oxy-fuel combustion, adsorption systems for CO2 capturing from flue gases, deep eutectic solvents for CO2 capture from flue gases, and Membranes for CO2 capture from flue gases.

5 - Advocacy - Standardisation, Regulation, Social Perception & Acceptance

This thematic track supports policies to provide just energy transition, gender equality, energy access and safety, poverty alleviation, and societal engagement. This is achieved by understanding the social perception and acceptance of all stakeholders as well as the lay public and establishing an open dialogue with society. This track is also related to developing documents for climate change, sustainable development, and decarbonisation, such as requirements standards, specifications, and guides, which can be used to consistently ensure that materials, products, processes, and services are suitable for their purposes. Works and studies in these areas are key to supporting technology transition and implementation.

6 - Electrification, Power & Storage - InnovaPower

This thematic track seeks to present innovative and sustainable solutions focused on decarbonising electrical power systems. It includes but is not limited to, aspects such as eco-efficient materials, increased availability and efficiency of electricity production, optimization of distributed energy resources and integration with agriculture, and digitalisation of electricity.

7 - Decarbonisation Technologies

This track involves abstracts related to the development of technologies, new materials, computational tools, experimental tests, proof of concepts, and artificial intelligence linked to the energy transition, focused on basic and applied research with the aim of making industrial processes more sustainable and implemented on a large scale.

8- Energy Transition Scenarios, Modelling, Economics & Carbon Credits

This track involves abstracts on energy transition scenarios and modelling. It also includes economic papers aspects as the economic feasibility of several low carbon technologies and what are the challenges and benefits of policies related to carbon credits, as well as SWOT analysis.

9 - ESG - Environmental, Social, and Governance

Sustainability, social responsibility, and good governance are topics that are of paramount concern for governments and the business sector in creating value, both for consumers and investors. The Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) framework is a crucial tool for evaluating and handling these concerns, including their contribution to the SDGs. Industries and companies are invited to present their efforts in these areas.
