Project “Applied assessment for the potential of BECCS in Paraná Sedimentary Basin in Brazil”
The main objective of this project is to identify, characterize, and model the main geological units and different rock-types of the
BECCS is the acronym for Bioenergy Energy with Carbon Capture and Storage.
It is a technology or a set of technologies that associate biomass energy jobs with carbon capture and storage, a process always carried out on a large scale. With this, it is possible to sequester the carbon present in the atmosphere.
The program aims to contribute to building a positive public perception of BECCS and influencing the design of public sustainability policies for the Brazilian energy system.
