Project 43: DETERMINATION OF FUNDAMENTAL PROPERTIES OF GASEOUS MIXTURES OF INTEREST FOR THE GAS AND OIL INDUSTRY IN THE PRESENCE OF COMPLEX FLUIDS (RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT LABORATORY FOR SUPERCRITICAL FLUIDS, OIL AND NATURAL GAS)

The main goal of this project is to stablish the most adequate experimental conditions and methodologies to determine (and then proceed with the determinations) of fundamental properties, such as solubility, phase behavior/phase equilibrium, viscosity, density, pH, of gaseous mixtures (CO2, CH4, Ethane, H2S, among others) and complex fluids (salt water, crude oil, and others) in several conditions of pressure, temperature and compositions, for applications of interest to the oil and gas industry, specially in connection with oil and gas exploration/extraction, CO2 valuation and CO2 capture and storage. The development of the research would lead to the establishment of a database of such properties for the direct use in several other projects in the area.
