Graduated in Economics (1990), and Electrical Engineering (1988) from the University of São Paulo. Master’s degrees in Energy Management and Policy (University of Pennsylvania; 1993), and Energy Systems Planning (State University of Campinas; 1992). Ph.D. in Energy Economics from the French Petroleum Institute and Université de Bourgogne (1997).
Professor Edmilson is an associate professor at the Institute of Energy and Environment of the University of São Paulo (IEE-USP). Since March/2019 he is a CNPq Category 2 Scientific Productivity Fellow. Since December 2015, he participates as Principal Researcher and Program Coordinator at the Research Center for Greenhouse Gas Innovation [Engineering Research Center, CPE, jointly founded by FAPESP and SHELL BRASIL). Develops research and teaching activities emphasizing Energy Analysis and Planning, with research lines in Energy & Society, Energy and Environment, Integrated Resource Planning and Development of Fossil Resources (conventional and non-conventional), and Renewable Energy Sources, including interests in Economics, Law, Regulation and Energy Policies. He is an independent advisor and consultant to research and development organizations, companies, and governmental and non-governmental agencies.
Since 2019 he coordinates the Program for Human Resources Training in Petroleum and Natural Gas at IEE-USP (PRH-33.1, supported by the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels – ANP – and FINEP). He coordinates important internationalization initiatives at IEE/USP, including the International Academic Cooperation Agreement between IEE/USP and IFP SCHOOL, France. He was President 2014/2016 of the Brazilian Association for Energy Studies – AB3E; and President 2011/2012 of the Brazilian Society for Energy Planning – SBPE.
