COP28 - Talks

A delegation from RCGI USP participated in the UN Conference on Climate Change (COP28) in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, which took place between November 30th and December 12th, 2023. In addition to the panels in which RCGI USP was invited to participate, our director of Human Resources and Institutional Communication, Karen Mascarenhas, also had the opportunity to talk to researchers about their projects. RCGI USP in COP28: ‘Science dialogue on climate action and sustainable investment in Brazil’ 

We’re happy to announce that researchers from University of São Paulo (USP) and the Research Centre for Greenhouse Gas Innovation (RCGI) will be part of COP 28 UAE. They will join in a round table with the theme: ‘Science dialogue on climate action and sustainable investment in Brazil’, on 5th December at 16:30 -18:30 GST, Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Among the speakers will be Julio Meneghini, RCGI Scientific Director; Suani T. Coelho, RCGI Deputy Director of the Advocacy Programme and professor at USP; Paulo Artaxo, professor at USP; Patrícia Iglecias, professor at USP; Tamara Gomes, professor at USP; and Tadeu Malheiros, professor at USP. In order to support the RCGI and USP team, our Director of Human Resources & Institutional Communication, Karen Louise Mascarenhas, is also at COP 28.

This strategic Dialogue on Climate Action, Biodiversity Conservation, and Sustainable Investment in Brazil will cover opportunities and possible alternative strategies to support governments, academia, and the private sector in implementing appropriate public policies for achieving climate, biodiversity, and sustainability goals in Brazil. The session will connect government officials, private sector practitioners, and academics to discuss the goals in a practical way.

In addition to the presentation on December 5, on December 7, from 10 a.m. to 1:20 p.m., the RCGI and USP will be represented in the panel “Strategic Dialogue for Climate Change Agenda and Nature-Based Solutions and the Carbon Market Implementations.” At that panel, Patrícia Iglecias, Julio Meneghini, and Carlos Eduardo Cerri, professor at USP and RCGI Director of the Nature Based Solutions (NBS) Programme, will be present.

We are thrilled to be taking part in the most significant worldwide gathering on climate-related matters once more!
