This project aims to tailor electrocatalysts, electrolytes, and interfaces, to enable the electrocatalytic reduction of CO2 to C2+ products, and of N2 to NH3, including their combination for obtaining urea.
For this achievement the focus is on the understanding of the kinetics of the reactions (rate of material product as consequence of CO2 reduction) and the identification of the reaction products. So that, from the scientific point of view and considering the reports mentioned in the references, we pretend to be in the 10% top of the new and original contributions.
Resuming, we aim increasing the selectivity to C2+ by new catalyst architectures.
Moreover, the breadth of knowledge will be to go from CO2 to urea by the co-electrolysis with N2, this reaction being the Sancto Graal of CO2 capture.
